San Diego, California - The San Diego State men’s soccer team has announced its highly anticipated schedule for the 2014 season. The Aztecs will play host to 12 matches at SDSU Sports Deck and have a program-record four matches televised on Pac-12 Networks. Known for playing a challenging schedule, the men of Montezuma play 11 contests against teams who made the 2013 NCAA Tournament and eight matches against teams that advanced to the round of 16 or beyond.

SDSU begins its 2014 campaign on the road against cross-town foe University of San Diego on Thursday, Aug. 21, in a friendly at Torero Stadium. The Aztecs officially open the season the following weekend with home matches against CSU Bakersfield on Friday, Aug. 29, and against Buffalo on Sunday, Aug. 31.

San Diego State will host the 7th annual Courtyard Marriott Central San Diego Soccer Tournament the following weekend at Montezuma Road. The Aztecs begin tournament play against 2013 NCAA Tournament qualifier Clemson on Sept. 5, in a rematch of the 1987 National Championship match, as well as an Aztec 1-0 overtime road victory in the 25th-year anniversary match in 2012.

SDSU will hold its alumni game on Saturday, Sept. 6, and caps off the weekend with the Aztecs’ second match of the tournament against another 2013 NCAA Tournament team, Denver, on Sept. 7. San Diego State concludes its six-match homestand against Wright State on Sept. 12, and Pacific on Sept. 14.

The Aztecs travel to the east coast to take on Florida International on Sept. 19, in their first match away from home, before returning to California for a road contest against in-state foe UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 26. The Aztecs head to Northern California the subsequent weekend for their first conference road contests, as SDSU takes on Sweet 16 participant Stanford in a televised match on Pac-12 Networks on Oct. 9, prior to a Sunday afternoon matchup against Elite Eight qualifier California on Oct. 12.

SDSU returns home against Oregon State on Oct. 16, before playing host to defending Pac-12 champion Washington on Sunday, Oct. 19. The Aztecs will have televised rematches against both teams the following weekend, as SDSU plays at Oregon State on Oct. 23, and at Washington on Oct. 26.

San Diego State welcomes California to Montezuma Road on Oct. 30, and will celebrate senior day against Stanford on Sunday, Nov. 2. The Aztecs conclude the 2014 regular-season schedule with a match at UCLA two weeks later on Nov. 16, which will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks.

The Aztecs have added the nation’s 37th-ranked recruiting class and return eight letterwinners from a team that played one of the most difficult schedules in the nation in 2013, including a top-10 opponent in seven of the final nine weeks of the season playing and 11 matches against teams that made the NCAA Tournament.
