San Diego, California - The San Diego Chargers made five roster moves today to reach the NFL’s 75-man limit.
The team placed cornerback Marcus Cromartie and defensive linemen Kwame Geathers and Ricky Tjong-a-Tjoe (chong-uh-CHOO) on the “Reserve-Injured” list. Geathers and Tjong-a-Tjoe both suffered knee injuries during last weekend’s preseason game in San Francisco.
The Chargers also placed guard-tackle Jeromey Clary on the “Reserve-Physically Unable to Perform” list and released cornerback Brandon Ghee. Clary will remain on the “Reserve-PUP” list for at least the first six weeks of the regular season. At the end of week six, the team will have a five-week window in which Clary can return to practice. Once he begins practicing, the team has an additional 21-day window in which to decide whether to activate him to the 53-man roster. If either of those deadlines pass, he must remain on the PUP list for the remainder of the season.
