San Diego, California - San Diego State head coach Steve Fisher has been named the 2014 NABC UPS Division I District 17 Coach of the Year, the National Association of Basketball Coaches announced Thursday. Fisher picks up his third award in the last four seasons (2011, 2012, 2014).

The 15th-year head coach and Mountain West Coach of the Year has guided the Aztecs to a 31-4 record, a MW regular-season championship and a spot in the NCAA Sweet 16. All of that comes off a season in which he and SDSU lost 62.0 percent of its scoring, 51.8 percent of its rebounding and 54.1 percent of its assists.

To get to this point in the season, Fisher helped the Aztecs win their second- and third-round NCAA tournament games last week in Spokane, Wash. SDSU will face top-seeded Arizona on Thursday night in Anaheim, Calif., in the Sweet 16 at 7:17 p.m. PT on TBS.
