San Diego, California - The San Diego State rowing team will travel north to compete in the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championship regatta this weekend, April 27-28. The event will be held at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center on Lake Natoma.
The Aztecs will compete against schools from around the country including Arizona State, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount and Saint Mary’s. The first race for SDSU will come at 9:20 am on Saturday in the women’s novice four. San Diego State will enter two boats into the second varsity eight competition in two separate heats at 10 am and 10:10 am. The varsity eight crew will take part in the second heat of races at 10:40 am.
Last season at the WIRAs, SDSU took second overall in team trophy points. In addition the Aztecs had two student-athletes honored for their performance over the two-day event.
Following the WIRA regatta, San Diego State will face crosstown foe, San Diego, on May 2 on Mission Bay in San Diego.
