San Diego, California - The San Diego Chargers officially placed cornerback Jason Verrett on “Reserve-Injured,” the team announced Friday. Verrett was diagnosed Wednesday with a partially torn ACL in his left knee. He played in the Chargers’ first four games this season recording an interception, 13 tackles and three passes defensed.
Verrett has been replaced on the active roster by cornerback Trevor Williams, a 5-11, 191-pound rookie who joined the Chargers in May as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State. He spent the first four weeks of the 2016 season on the Bolts’ practice squad. Williams wears No. 42.
The Chargers also announced that nose tackle Ryan Carrethers, waived on Wednesday, has been re-signed to the practice squad. Carrethers takes the practice squad spot vacated by Williams.
