San Diego, California - The San Diego Chargers claimed wide receiver Jeremy Butler off waivers, the team announced Monday.

A 6-2, 213-pound third-year player, Butler was waived by the New York Jets. He began his career in Baltimore, joining the Ravens as an undrafted rookie in 2014. Butler spent his rookie year on “Reserve-Injured” due to a shoulder injury but he returned in 2015 and played in eight games for Baltimore, catching 31 passes for 363 yards. After being released by Baltimore in final roster reductions this year, Butler spent time with Tampa Bay and the Jets, but he did not appear in any games.

A native of Sarasota, Florida, Butler played collegiately at Tennessee-Martin.

To make room on the roster for Butler, the Chargers have waived wide receiver Isaiah Burse, who was just signed to the active roster from the practice squad on Saturday.
