San Diego, California - The Zoo's Australian Outback is home to koalas as well as wallabies, Tasmanian devils, echidnas, wombats, kookaburras, and cockatoos. During this small-group tour, guests are invited inside the Queenslander House, with its wide decks overlooking the Zoo's koala colony - the largest outside of Australia.
Here, they’ll see where keepers prepare food for the animals in the Zoo’s Outback. They’'ll also meet an animal native to the same eucalyptus forests where koalas hail from and stroll through the male koalas’ “bachelor pad.” Guests will get the inside scoop on how the Zoo takes care of these marsupials and learn how it is supporting their survival in the wild.
Koalas & Friends is a two-hour adventure that also includes a tour around the Zoo in a VIP cart, with stops to view some of the Zoo’s other animals along the way.
Daily during the summer from 2 to 4 p.m.
We expect this to be a popular tour and space is limited. Please call 619-718-3000 for reservations.
