San Diego, California - County supervisors unanimously approved rule changes Wednesday that will cut the costs of food handler certificates for instructors.

The new rules will cut the cost of food handler cards that are issued by food handler instructors to restaurant and food workers from $6 to $3.

San Diego County was one of the first to create a food handler training programĀ - in 1980. The program protects the public by making sure restaurant and food workers know how to properly handle, prepare and store food, and that they understand and practice proper hygiene.
