Alpine, California - This morning, at 6:25 a.m., the Sheriff's Communications Center received a call of a shooting at 1525 Wilson Road, in unincorporated El Cajon. When the deputies arrived on scene they found two victims with gunshot wounds.

The first victim has been identified as Eufracio Alberto Enriquez (10/4/78). Family members were performing CPR on Mr. Enriquez. Deputies took over CPR until relieved by paramedics. Despite the lifesaving efforts, Mr. Enriquez was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim has been identified as Leila Farmer (12/13/74). She suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Mr. Enriquez and Ms. Farmer are boyfriend and girlfriend.

The suspect has been identified as Abel Martinez (10/5/63). Martinez is the ex-boyfriend of Ms. Farmer. Martinez turned himself in at the Sheriff's Alpine Substation at about 10:15 a.m. He will be booked into the San Diego Central Jail on murder and attempted murder charges.

According to statements, Mr. Enriquez and Ms. Farmer were asleep in bed inside the residence and awoke to find Martinez inside. It is unclear at this time how Martinez gained entry into the residence. Some words were exchanged and Martinez took out a handgun and first shot Mr. Enriquez, and then Ms. Farmer. Martinez fled the scene in a vehicle.

The murder investigation is being conducted by the Sheriff's Homicide Detail, Crime Laboratory personnel, and detectives from the Alpine Substation.
