San Diego, California - San Diego State University students will trade the traditional red and black for lavender during the 5th annual Lavender Graduation.
The event honors graduating students who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer or allies.
The ceremony honors the achievements of graduate and undergraduate students who are part of the LGBTQ campus and awards faculty, staff and administrators who have enhanced the campus climate for LGBTQ students.
Students receive a certificate and a rainbow cord to wear with their academic regalia during commencement, as well as an invitation to join SDSU’s LGBT alumni chapter.
