San Diego, California - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Ysidro port of entry Tuesday caught a fugitive wanted for murder by the Stockton Police Department.

At about 9:15 a.m., Rene Francisco Sanchez, a 37-year-old male U.S. citizen entered the port of entry on foot.  During the inspection, a CBP officer checked Sanchez’ information against law enforcement databases and was alerted that he was wanted.

Sanchez was escorted to a secure location for further processing.  A CBP officer used Sanchez’ fingerprints to positively identify him and confirm he was the subject of an active felony, no bail warrant for murder, issued at the request of the Stockton Police Department.

CBP officers transported Sanchez and booked him into the San Diego County Jail to await extradition.
