San Marcos, California - Monday at about 11:00 a.m., deputies responded to a call of three aggressive pit bulls. Deputies entered the homeowner's property to contact the dogs' owner about the complaint. While attempting to make contact, three pit bulls emerged from inside the home through an open patio door and charged at the deputies.

One deputy, fearing for his safety and believing he was about to be bitten, fired two rounds, quickly dispatching the dog. The other two dogs retreated back inside the home.

The investigation is being handled by the San Marcos Station and is ongoing.
