San Diego, California - San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie M. Dumanis announced the filing of a murder charge against Anthony Simoneau, 46, in connection with the disappearance of his wife, Fumiko Ogawa, 42. Ogawa, a Japanese national, was last seen near the home she shared with Simoneau in Point Loma on or about January 4, 2007.

Her remains were discovered in the Anza Borrego Desert on January 20, 2007.

Ogawa’s remains went unidentified until a DNA match was made in 2011. The San Diego Police Department then launched a murder investigation.

Simoneau was arrested by authorities in Honolulu, Hawaii and is currently being held in the Honolulu City Jail. The San Diego County District Attorney’s Office will seek his extradition back to San Diego. Simoneau has been charged with one count of murder. He faces a maximum of 25 years-to-life in prison if convicted.
