San Diego, California - The San Diego State University Police Department, in conjunction with the San Diego County AVOID DUI Law Enforcement agencies conducted a DUI Saturation Patrol Detail in and around the SDSU area. The primary intent of the saturation patrol was to educate the public of the dangers associated with drinking and driving.
On the night of 10-31-2013, between the hours of 7:00 PM and 3:00AM, Police Officers and Deputies from the San Diego State University Police Department, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Escondido Police Department, National City Police Department, and La Mesa Police Department, conducted a DUI saturation patrol in the college area.
During the detail 67 vehicles were stopped, 8 drivers were evaluated for possible driving under the influence, 1 driver was arrested for DUI, and 12 other citations were issued for various vehicle code violations. This saturation detail was funded through a grant by the California Office of Traffic Safety. The Office of Traffic Safety and local Law Enforcement urge drivers to "Report Drunk Drivers. Call 911"
