Ramona, California - Deputies from the Ramona Sub-station were dispatched for a report of a fishing kayak located floating upside down at Lake Sutherland Dam, in Ramona.
Deputies checked the shoreline area around the lake and learned the kayak is owned by a 55-year old man who frequents the lake to fish and is known to employees who work at the lake.
Sheriff's ASTREA and Search and Rescue were summoned to the location and requested additional assistance from the San Diego City Life Guards. A search was conducted of the entire shoreline with negative results. Several boats were deployed and searched the lake in the vicinity of where the unoccupied kayak was located with negative results. Due to inclement weather conditions and poor diving conditions the search has been temporarily suspended.
The search will resume tomorrow morning at 8am with the SD Life Guards and assistance from Sheriff's Search and Rescue Dive Team.
