Deputy Secretary of State Sullivan Travels to Iraq

Washington, DC - Deputy Secretary of State John J. Sullivan travels to Iraq from October 14 through 16 to visit Baghdad and Erbil. While there, he will meet with and congratulate newly elected Iraqi officials Speaker Halbusi, President Salih, and Prime Minister-Designate Mahdi.

The Deputy Secretary’s engagements in Baghdad and Erbil will focus on expanding U.S.-Iraq economic ties and underscoring the United States’ continued support for a strong, sovereign, and prosperous Iraq.

During his trip, the Deputy Secretary will also engage with U.S. Embassy and Consulate staff, as well as representatives from the business community and civil society.
