San Diego, California - University of California San Diego senior Chanel Schilling has been named Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Division II Player of the Year and head coach Brad Kreutzkamp received ACWPC Coach of the Year honors, as the All-America Teams were announced on Wednesday.
Sophomore goalkeeper Bennett Bugelli and sophomore center Ciara Franke join Schilling on the ACWPC All-America First Team, while sophomores Grace Pevehouse and Taylor Onstott landed on the All-ACWPC All-America Second Team.
Schilling becomes a three-time ACWPA All-American after finishing the season with 38 total points on 36 goals with two assists. The senior from Newport Beach, Calif., led the tritons with 48 drawn exclusions and tied for fifth on the team with 21 steals en route to being named Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Co-Player of the Year.
Meanwhile, Kreutzkamp becomes ACWPC Coach of the Year for the fifth time in 10 seasons leading UC San Diego. He was named WWPA Co-Coach of the Year on April 24 and has amassed a career record of 222-154 (.590).
Bugelli recorded an 11-10 record as a starter in the net, posting a team-best 179 saves with a .559 save percentage. Franke finished third in goals (53) and total points (63) for the Tritons and was second on the team with 32 steals. Both Bugelli and Franke joined Schilling as All-WWPA First-Team selections.
Pevehouse led UC San Diego with 66 goals and 79 total points, tallying 25 steals on her way to WWPA Honorable Mention accolades. Onstott also earned WWPA Honorable Mention after ranking second on the team with 55 goals and 74 total points, as well as a team-high 36 steals.
UC San Diego (22-14) is coming off its seventh-consecutive WWPA Championship en route to advancing to the National Collegiate Water Polo Championship Quarterfinals. The Tritons will compete in their first season as a member of the Big West Conference in the spring of 2020.
