FBI and San Diego Police Department Seeking Tips: Bank Robber Brandishes Handgun

San Diego, California - The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the San Diego Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the individual responsible for a bank robbery in San Diego, California. On June 28, 2019, at approximately 9:16 a.m., a lone Black male entered the California Bank & Trust, located at 3737 Fifth Avenue, Suite 100, San Diego, California. While brandishing a weapon, the man approached one bank teller and made a verbal demand for cash. After receiving a sum of cash from the teller, the robber fled on foot.

The weapon, held in his right hand, was described as a semi-automatic handgun.

Surveillance cameras inside the bank captured photographs of the individual wanted for this robbery. (See page 2.) In the surveillance photographs, the robber can be seen wearing a black long sleeved hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, white undershirt, “boonie” hat, and dark sunglasses. The robber carried a black backpack.

Witnesses have described the robber as follows:

  • Sex: Male
  • Race: Black
  • Build/Weight: Thin Build
  • Height: Approximately 6’0” to 6’2”
  • Hair: Black
  • Clothing: Black long sleeved sweatshirt, “boonie” hat, sunglasses, and dark sweatpants
  • Weapon: Semi-automatic handgun displayed during the robbery
