Albuquerque, New Mexico - San Diego State women’s golfer Gioia Carpinelli (Boppelsen, Switzerland) tied for second place at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational on Tuesday after firing a career-best 4-under-par 68 during the final round at the par-72, 6,317-yard UNM Championship South Course.

La Jolla, California - Sam Thompson has been waiting for this opportunity. The University of California San Diego redshirt junior goalkeeper may officially be a reserve, but didn't play anything like a backup during the GCC vs. WWPA Challenge Cup last weekend. An Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Division II First-Team All-American while starting all 25 games last season, Thompson was a standout in victories against No. 10 UC Irvine and No. 8 Pepperdine on Sept. 8.

Independence, Minnesota - The San Diego State men’s golf team completed its season-opening tournament in 11th place at the Gopher Invitational on Monday after firing a combined 13-over par 297 during the final round at the par-71 Windsong Farm Golf Club.

San Diego, California - The Aztec men’s soccer team (2-2-1) had a thrilling come from behind 2-1 victory in extra time over UC Irvine (3-2-1) Sunday evening to win the Courtyard Marriott San Diego Central Aztec Soccer Classic. SDSU gave up a goal in the fourth minute then scored in the 85th and 92nd minute to complete the comeback.

Honolulu, Hawaii - The San Diego State volleyball team (1-8) fell in four sets to Hawai'i (4-3) on its final day at the Outriggers Volleyball Challenge hosted in Honolulu, Hawaii. Ashlynn Dunbar led all players in the match with 16 kills, while defensively Deja Harris posted a match-best seven blocks in addition to her 10 kills.
