NAVFAC EXWC Establishes New Expeditionary Programs Office

Port Hueneme, California - Naval Facilities (NAVFAC) Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (EXWC) officially consolidated the NAVFAC Expeditionary Programs Office (NEPO) and the EXWC Expeditionary Department (EX) into one organization — the new Expeditionary Programs Office or “ExPO” as they are now known.

This new organization within NAVFAC EXWC is led by Director Capt. Jay Cavnar, who now reports to the commanding officer of NAVFAC EXWC via the NAVFAC EXWC Technical Director.

This decision to consolidate NEPO and EXWC EX addresses the Secretary of the Navy and Chief of Naval Operations’ challenges to make the Navy more lethal. By consolidating both departments, the expeditionary branch of the Navy will achieve quicker delivery capabilities of expeditionary and technology solutions for the warfighter.

“Stand-up of an expeditionary business line and this consolidation leverages science and technology reinvention laboratory authorities to accelerate the delivery of NAVFAC EXWC technologies that better serve the fleet,” said NAVFAC EXWC Commanding Officer, Capt. Mike Saum.

NAVFAC EXWC executes an annual $1 billion portfolio across 14 technical capabilities, supported by more than 1,200 employees in multiple locations throughout the United States and overseas. The command supports fleet warfighters, specifically their readiness to deploy and win decisively in combat.
