The University of California San Diego redshirt junior goalkeeper may officially be a reserve, but didn't play anything like a backup during the GCC vs. WWPA Challenge Cup last weekend. An Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Division II First-Team All-American while starting all 25 games last season, Thompson was a standout in victories against No. 10 UC Irvine and No. 8 Pepperdine on Sept. 8.

Honolulu, Hawaii - The San Diego State volleyball team (1-8) fell in four sets to Hawai'i (4-3) on its final day at the Outriggers Volleyball Challenge hosted in Honolulu, Hawaii. Ashlynn Dunbar led all players in the match with 16 kills, while defensively Deja Harris posted a match-best seven blocks in addition to her 10 kills.

San Diego, California - The Aztec men’s soccer team (2-2-1) had a thrilling come from behind 2-1 victory in extra time over UC Irvine (3-2-1) Sunday evening to win the Courtyard Marriott San Diego Central Aztec Soccer Classic. SDSU gave up a goal in the fourth minute then scored in the 85th and 92nd minute to complete the comeback.

Sacramento, California - California Attorney General Xavier Becerra Thursday joined a coalition of 12 attorneys general in submitting a comment letter opposing a proposal by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that risks exposing endangered species to harmful pesticides. Under the proposal, the EPA would substantially alter the current method used to determine whether, and to what extent, a pesticide “may affect” an endangered species or critical habitat and thereby trigger the requirement to consult with federal wildlife agencies regarding pesticide impacts and mitigation measures.
