Attorneys General Becerra and Balderas Intervene to Defend DOI’s Valuation Rule

Sacramento, California - California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, along with New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas, filed a motion to intervene in Cloud Peak Energy v. U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI), a lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court in the District of Wyoming attempting to overturn DOI’s Valuation Rule. The Attorneys General seek to defend the Rule, which ensures taxpayers and states receive fair value for oil, gas, and coal extracted from public and tribal lands.

Washington, DC - Scientists using an experimental treatment have slowed the progression of scrapie, a degenerative central nervous disease caused by prions, in laboratory mice and greatly extended the rodents’ lives, according to a new report in JCI Insight.  The scientists used antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs), synthetic compounds that inhibit the formation of specific proteins.

Manama, Bahrain - The U.S. Navy announced the identity of a Sailor listed as Duty Status Whereabouts Unknown (DUSTWUN) following a reported man overboard incident onboard the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) while operating in the Arabian Sea, July 17, in support of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command.

Grimbergen, Brussels - The blessed beer brewers of Belgium will begin brew beer after a 224 year hiatus, according to the Association of Mature American Citizens. The monks at a monastery in the town of Grimbergen north of Brussels had been brewing beer since the 13th Century. French troops raided the abbey and put them out of business in 1795.
