Washington, DC - The Vice President met today with the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Jusuf Kalla. The Vice President reaffirmed the United States’ Strategic Partnership with Indonesia and the 70 years of bilateral relations that the two nations will celebrate in 2019. He congratulated the Vice President on Indonesia’s election to the UN Security Council for the year ahead.
The Vice President encouraged Indonesia to continue to be a voice for peace and stability in the region.
The two Vice Presidents underscored their countries’ shared values and their commitment to working together on important regional issues before, during, and after Vice President Pence’s trip to the region in November for the U.S.-ASEAN Summit, East Asia Summit, and APEC.
