CDFA employees donate nearly 1,700 pounds of turkey to needy families

Sacramento, California - Employees at CDFA’s Sacramento-area offices ushered-in the holiday season yesterday by donating 1,700 pounds of turkey to the Sacramento Food Bank.

Kings County Woman Pleads Guilty to Distributing Methamphetamine

Fresno, California - Nancy Lopez Perez, 44, of Lemoore, pleaded guilty today to distributing methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced.

Mexican fruit fly quarantine

Los Angeles, California - A portion of Los Angeles County, including the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports, has been placed under quarantine for the Mexican fruit fly following the detection of three flies, including two mated females, within the City of Long Beach.  Mated females are significant because they indicate a breeding population that increases the risk of spread of this pest. CDFA is working collaboratively on this project with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Los Angeles County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office. 

Acting Governor Newsom Orders Flags to be Flown at Half-Staff

Sacramento, California - Acting Governor Gavin Newsom ordered flags at all state buildings to be flown at half-staff and issued the following statement in response to last night’s shooting in Ventura County:

Former Genentech Employees Charged With Theft Of Trade Secrets

San Francisco, California - A federal grand jury indicted Xanthe Lam, Allen Lam, John Chan, and James Quach for stealing trade secrets from Genentech and related charges, announced United States Attorney Alex G. Tse and FBI Special Agent in Charge John F. Bennett. The indictment, handed down on October 25, 2018, and unsealed today, alleges that the defendants stole confidential Genentech information to help a company in Taiwan create and sell drugs similar to those that were created by Genentech.
