Washington, DC - Yesterday, President Donald J. Trump declared that a major disaster exists in the United States territory of Guam and ordered Federal assistance to supplement territory and local recovery efforts for the territory due to Typhoon Mangkhut from September 10 to September 11, 2018.
Federal funding is available to the territory and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by Typhoon Mangkhut.
Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures throughout the territory.
Brock Long, Administrator, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Department of Homeland Security, named Benigno Bern Ruiz as the Federal Coordinating Officer for Federal recovery operations in the affected areas.
Additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the territory and warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
