Washington, DC - Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Francis R. Fannon will travel to Singapore October 29-31.
In Singapore, the Assistant Secretary will promote the Asia EDGE initiative – Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy. Under Asia EDGE, the Department of State and USAID will contribute an initial investment of nearly $50 million to a whole-of-government approach to strengthen energy security and catalyze regional growth. This initiative will ensure energy access across the Indo-Pacific by expanding public-private partnerships; fostering business-to-business connections. Through Asia EDGE, the U.S. will provide technical assistance to help partner governments develop their energy markets, modernize energy infrastructure, and set transparent best-management practices.
In Singapore, Assistant Secretary Fannon will participate in the 12th East Asia Summit Energy Ministers Meeting and in Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) events. Assistant Secretary Fannon will meet with energy ministers from the ASEAN member states under this year’s theme of “Resilience and Innovation.” He also will meet with the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council.
At the SIEW conference, Assistant Secretary Fannon will participate in a panel discussion on innovation in energy.
