Dulzura, California - U.S. Border Patrol agents rescued a man that had been lost for four days on Wednesday morning.
The incident began at approximately 10 a.m. when agents assigned to San Diego’s Border Patrol Search, Trauma, and Rescue (BORSTAR) team received a call from San Diego Sheriff’s Department regarding a lost individual. The lost man relayed to Sheriff’s Department personnel that he had been lost for approximately four days, had no water, and was unable to walk. Sheriff’s Department personnel relayed the approximate location to BORSTAR members.
Agents deployed via all-terrain vehicles due to the remote location and located the lost man. The man stated he was in good health aside from being dehydrated. BORSTAR personnel evaluated the man for further trauma and provided him with water and electrolytes. After treatment, the man was extracted via all-terrain vehicle.
The man was determined to be a 35-year-old citizen of Mexico unlawfully present in the U.S. He was subsequently transported to a nearby Border Patrol station for processing.

Heitke. "Time and again our search and rescue team has proven to be an invaluable asset in effecting our national security mission and preserving lives. I am grateful for their efforts.”
